Expansion Shell Bail Type

Advantages

  • Expansion Shell units anchor in most competent rock strata. They are designed to hold in soft ground or hard rock.
  • Expansion Shell units feature parallel contact with the hole surface. Serrations on the outsize of the shell ensure positive holding power.
  • All standard 3 leaf-expanding shells are designed with a large expanding range and excellent contact during installation.
  • Shells are available with bail type, or with support washer during installation.
  • The plug are supplied with metric right hand threads.

Description

  • Expansion shells serve to mechanically anchor rock bolts or rock studs within holes drilled in the rock.
  • Expansion shells are supplied screwed on the end of the rock tendon and inserted into the hole. When tension is applied to the tendon the tapered plug within the shells forces the leaves to move outwards, thus wedging them against the wall of the borehole. This provides a points anchor for the installation.

When selecting an Expansion Shell:

  • Determine the size of the hole that going to be drilled
